Is there a simple way to transfer all your music from Windows Media Player to iTunes?

How do I transfer all my music and videos from my IPod, to my new Apple laptop?

I actually have 2 IPods (1 video, 1 old non video) – I would like to transfer all of the music and movies and videos, to my new Apple Laptop. Also, I would like to keep it from automatically updating. How do you do this? Do you know any good free software for music burning programs, other than itunes, and comparable to Roxio?
